日本の科学者でつくり、政府から独立して政策の提言などを行う日本学術会議の会員について、推薦された人のうち6人を菅総理大臣が任命しなかったことを受けて、日本学術会議は2日の総会で緊急に協議し、任命されなかった理由を明らかにするとともに、6人の任命を改めて求める要望書をまとめることを決めました。加藤官房長官は、閣議のあとの記者会見で、「総理大臣の所轄のもとの行政機関である『日本学術会議』について、任命権者である総理大臣が法律に基づいて任命を行った。こうした説明を引き続き行っていきたい」と述べました。
